It all boils down to words - what is the end customer searching for, what words and phrases are they using?
There are two types of search by a potential customer -
- "Long tail" e.g. "SEO Lincolnshire", which is a phrase.
- "Short tail" search terms are individual keywords, e.g. "SEO", "Lincolnshire".
You should aim to be generating at least 50% of your website traffic from "long tail" searches.
There needs to be a balance between healthy content to attract your customer and search engine optimization that will gain you rank in a search. It's no good being listed on page two, how often do YOU go to page two when searching a topic?
Back Links - extremely important for website success. These can be thought of as votes for your business. They are links TO your website that hold relevant content to your business. Your website will live or die on these alone.
Go slowly - search engines that register lots of simultaneous back links (hundreds at the same time) will destroy your page rankings. We do NOT use link submission schemes, everything is entered by hand into quality directories.
